Earn a $1,000 stipend through ASPIRE!
In supporting Early Childhood Education, ASPIRE is offering a stipend by completing:
• 3 semester units (4.5 quarter units) of eligible coursework
• Online training on the C.L.A.S.S. observation tool
• 2 sessions with an ASPIRE advisor
Eligibility:
• Work with children 0-5 in a licensed ECE setting at least 15 hours a week in L.A. County
• Take coursework towards an ECE/Child Development degree or permit during the academic year
• Be ineligible for the L.A. County Investing in Early Educators Stipend Program
The application deadline is June 30th, 2015.

UCLA Extension PK-12 Credential Programs is a partner with Los Angeles Unified School District to help fill a critical shortage of Special Education teachers projected for 2015-2016. Members of our team have been invited to meet with prospective special education teachers to discuss credential program options at three April information sessions hosted by LAUSD. Anyone interested in attending one of these information sessions can contact Derek Ramage, LAUSD Director of Certificated Recruitment, Selection, and Credential Services, derek.ramage@lausd.net. The sessions have been scheduled for 3:30-5:00pm at different locations on these three dates: April 20, 21, and 23.

At the California Association for the Education of Young Children Annual Conference, the Leadership Day keynote made a strong argument for the future of education: to develop individual differences and unique abilities rather than serving the median.
Several talks referenced executive functioning skills and mental health in early childhood.
The UCLA Extension talk went really well (Roca and Davis)! On Consulting a speech therapist: Neurological processes in language development to create language-based curricula.

The UCLA Extension Education Department will be exhibiting at the March California Charter Schools Association Conference in Sacramento. Teachers and administrators should stop by Booth 1410 for information about programs for charter school professionals: Preliminary and Clear Credentialing in General Education and Special Education; Charter School Leadership; College Counseling, Early Childhood Education, and more. CAEYC Annual Conference Award (five awards)
Successful applicants will receive complimentary full (four day) conference registration to CAEYC's Annual Conference and Expo held on March 4-7, 2015 in Sacramento, CA.
CAEYC Presidents Education Award (1 award)
Successful applicant will receive $1,000 for graduate degree or credential study in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
Deadline Extended: applications and supporting documents must be received (in the CAEYC office, not just post-marked) no later than Friday, January 23, 2015.
